We Made Our First Hire

After 22 months alone, SokoSuite is now a team of two.

Why Now?

MRR crossed $2K consistently for 3 months. Customer support was killing me. Something had to give.

The Role

Customer Support + Sales Assistant. Part-time (20 hours/week) for now.

The Search

  • Posted on LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Got 50+ applications
  • Interviewed 8 candidates
  • Hired one

What I Looked For

Communication: They'll talk to customers daily. This mattered most.

Self-Starter: Can't hand-hold. They need to figure things out.

Cultural Fit: First hire sets the tone. Needed someone who gets the mission.

The Onboarding

Week 1: Shadow me on customer calls Week 2: Handle simple support requests Week 3: Take over support entirely Week 4: Start outbound sales

The Impact

I have 10+ hours back per week. Using it for product development.

Customer response time improved. Sales pipeline growing.

The Cost

$400/month + NHIF/NSSF. Manageable at current revenue.

The Fear

What if revenue drops? What if they don't work out? What if I'm a terrible manager?

Doing it anyway.

Hiring is scary. But staying solo forever is scarier.
