To Hire or Not to Hire: When Does a Solo Founder Need Help?

Revenue is growing. Workload is crushing. Should I hire?

The Case For Hiring

Capacity: I'm the bottleneck. Customer support, sales, development—I can't scale alone.

Skills: I'm weak at design and marketing. Someone else could fill gaps.

Momentum: More hands = faster execution = more growth.

The Case Against

Cost: Salaries are fixed. Revenue isn't. What if we have a bad month?

Management Overhead: Managing people takes time. Time I don't have.

Culture Risk: First hire sets the tone. Get it wrong and you're stuck.

The Middle Ground

Contractors: Pay for outcomes, not hours. Less commitment. More flexibility.

Part-Time: Junior dev or customer support, 20 hours/week. Test the waters.

Automation First: Can software solve this before humans do?

The Decision

Not yet. Get to $2K MRR first. Then revisit.

At current growth rate: 4-6 months.

The Real Question

Am I avoiding hiring because of legitimate concerns or because I'm scared of commitment?

Probably both.
