10 Mistakes I Made Building SokoSuite
Learn from my mistakes so you don't repeat them.
1. Building Too Much Before Selling
Built for 6 months before first customer. Should have sold first, built second.
2. Free Tier That Attracted Wrong Customers
Free users wanted everything, paid nothing. Wasted months on support for $0 revenue.
3. Over-Engineering Early
Built microservices before we had scale problems. Unnecessary complexity.
4. Ignoring Customer Feedback
"We know better" mentality. We didn't. Customers did.
5. Bad Pricing Initially
$20/month was too cheap. Customers didn't value it. Tripling price improved perception and revenue.
6. Not Tracking Metrics
Flew blind for months. Can't improve what you don't measure.
7. Saying Yes to Everyone
Every custom feature request. Product became bloated. Focus suffered.
8. Weak Sales Process
"Build it and they will come" doesn't work. You have to sell.
9. Neglecting Marketing
Thought product would sell itself. It didn't. Should have built audience earlier.
10. Working Alone Too Long
Should have hired 6 months earlier. Ego and fear held me back.
The Silver Lining
Mistakes are expensive but educational.
I won't make these again. New mistakes await.
