Three Years of Building SokoSuite: What I'd Do Differently

Three years ago, I started SokoSuite with big dreams and zero customers.

Today: 85 customers, $1,800 MRR, 1 employee, still standing.

What I'd Do Differently

Start Selling Earlier: I built for 6 months before selling. Should've been 6 weeks.

Charge More From Day One: Underpriced initially. Hurt perception and revenue.

Hire Sooner: Waited 22 months to hire. Should've been 12.

Focus Harder: Built too many features no one uses. Should've said no more.

Document Better: So much knowledge only in my head. Risky.

What I'm Glad I Did

Bootstrapped: No investors. No pressure. Full control.

Chose Boring Tech: Python, React, Postgres. Productive, not trendy.

Focused on SMEs: Clear ICP. Easier to sell and build for.

Wrote This Blog: Clarified thinking. Connected with people. Worth it.

The Numbers

  • Year 1 MRR: $0 → $800
  • Year 2 MRR: $800 → $1,800
  • Year 3 MRR: $1,800 → TBD

Goal for year 3: $4K MRR.

The Reality

This is hard. Slower than hoped. More work than expected.

But I'm still here. Still building. Still learning.

That's the win.

What's Next

Scale to $4K MRR. Hire developer #2. Maybe raise a small round (maybe).

Let's see what year 4 brings.
